Overview of GCr15 materials
GCr15 is a high-carbon chromium bearing steel with low alloy content, good performance, and wide application.
1. Chemical composition
The chemical composition of GCr15 is mainly composed of carbon (C), chromium (Cr), manganese (Mn), silicon (Si) and sulfur (S), among which chromium is the most important alloying element. Its chemical composition is as follows: C: 0.95 - 1.05, Si: 0.15 - 0.35, S: ≤0.020, P: ≤0.027, Cu: ≤0.25, Ni+Cu≤0.50.

Mechanical properties
Hardness and strength: after quenching and tempering, it has high hardness, hardness can reach about 60HRC, and still maintains high strength and rigidity in a high-temperature environment, has high hardenability, can obtain high and uniform hardness after heat treatment, and its tensile strength and other mechanical properties are good, which can meet the needs of 214765 to bear large loads.
Abrasion resistance: It has excellent wear resistance, better than GCr9, which makes it effective in reducing wear and prolonging service life in high load and high speed working environment.
Contact fatigue performance: The contact fatigue strength is high, and it is suitable for the manufacture of various bearings and other components that need to withstand repeated contact stress.
Toughness: The steel has medium plasticity in cold working, and can obtain high toughness after quenching and other treatments, and has a certain impact resistance while meeting the hardness requirements.
Processability
Cutting performance: The cutting performance is average, and it is necessary to select the appropriate tool and processing parameters when carrying out cutting processing.
Welding performance: poor welding performance, in the welding process, easy to produce cracks in the welded joint, thereby reducing the reliability and strength of the welded joint .
Heat treatment performance: It has good heat treatment plasticity, and can obtain different hardness and strength levels through a variety of heat treatment processes such as quenching, tempering and carburizing to adapt to different application scenarios. For example, ordinary annealing (790 - 810 degrees heating, furnace cooling to 650 degrees, air cooling - HB170 - 207), isothermal annealing (790 - 810 degrees heating, 710 - 720 degrees isotherm, air cooling - HB207 - 229), normalizing (900 - 920 degrees heating, air cooling - HB270 - 390), high temperature tempering (650 - 700 degrees heating, air cooling - HB229 - 285), quenching (860 degrees heating, oil quenching - HRC62 - - 66), low temperature tempering (150 - 170 degrees tempering, air cooling - HRC61 - 66), carbonitriding (820 - 830 degrees co-infiltrating 1.5 - 3 hours, oil quenching, - 60 degrees to - 70 degrees cryogenic treatment + 150 degrees to +160 tempering, air cooling - HRC≈67) .
